The boyband Hearts is at the top of the charts in 2019 America. Daniel, an Iowa high school student, is questioning his sexuality and joins the online community of Hearts fans who believe that two members of the band are secretly in love but unable to come out publicly. Blurring the lines between reality, fantasy, teenage coming-of-age drama, and pop concert, HEARTS is a play with music that examines society's still-limited tolerance of queerness and self expression, despite the veneer of progressive vocabulary and claims of acceptance.
